West reviewed The Actor's Office on October 17,2002. Here's
an excerpt from Laura Weinert's article, "Setting Up Shop"
Now that you've cleared everything away, you should
have in the middle of that sparkling clean desk: your computer. To
do postcard mailings, many actors make use of a computer database
that keeps track of current addresses. It's up to you to subscribe
to or regularly purchase a book with current addresses of casting
directors or agents. You then use that to periodically update your
own database of addresses.
For those less keen on data entry, there is Joe Gold's software program
called The Actor's Office ($50, www.theactorsoffice.com) that keeps
track of current agents' and CDs' address updates for you, allows
you to track your auditions and submissions, and provides easy-to-use
templates for printing postcards and cover letters.
